Washougal,
WA - The AMA MX National
Series rolled into the beautiful state of Washington to attend round eight at
Washougal MX Park. Division 7/Star Racing/Yamaha comprised of #41 Matt Lemoine, #43 Broc Tickle, #159 Darryn Durham, #164 Michael Hall,
and #455 Lucas Moraes came
in with hopes of keeping their status of fixtures up front. Things proved to be
tough, however bright moments did occur sporadically.
Taking top honors on this weekend would go to Tickle, who continues to bring
his total package together and match it up with the raw speed he holds.
However, a bad start in moto
one forced the likeable 20 year
old, to pull himself up through the field. The task was accomplished, and he
successfully piloted the #43 YZ 250F up to 10th place by lap three. Focused
ahead, Tickle pushed hard seeing him move to the 7th spot at the finish. Moto
two was much of the same, sitting 15th on lap one, Tickle clawed his way
through the field during the races entirety. By doing so, he took a hold of 8th
on the final lap due to his determination and closed this round out positively.
Bringing another highlight to the outdoor campaign was Durham, grabbing a 7th
place start in moto one,
#159 put the hammer down. After moving up two spots very quickly, Durham showed
his skills by overtaking 4th convincingly on lap seven. With less than four
laps to go, he battled relentlessly to maintain his position. In the end Durham
dropped a spot, seeing him fall back to a finish score of 5th. However, his
performance for the second race in a row was very impressive. Durham’s moto two began well with him
sitting 11th momentarily. The talented youngster rode hard and got himself two
notches higher by mid race. When the checkers were thrown, Durham had slipped
into 10th, and his exceptional riding was definitely noticed.
The next guy in line was Hall, pushing forward all the while in moto one, the rookie started 10th
only to crash on lap four. Now sitting in 29th, Hall raced from there to take a
tally of 18th. After starting poorly in moto two due to
being chopped off out of the gate, Hall bounced back and netted 12th.
Having just plain horrible luck throughout the day was Lemoine, after riding up into the 11th in moto one following subpar start.
Moto two began with a mediocre start for Lemoine,
but just as the first lap had ended, Lemoine
went and took a nasty get off which was the end of his day. Luckily, the tough
Texan wound up being okay, and will be ready for the next go at racing.
